The main story is present in the prototype, although there are a few exclusions. The final allows the player to select different attacks for every party member, which is completely missing in the prototype.Party members do, but their sprites are very choppy. Some, like the Ecto Cooler, heal specific amounts of VP instead of a certain percentage. In the prototype, more items tell what function they serve in the description.There are no vending machines in the prototype.Portraits do not appear in dialogue boxes.The sprinting meter hasn't been added yet.The Tales of Game's splash screen hasn't been added.While both games use a resolution of 640x480, the prototype forces the game to be fullscreen, as is the case with most RPG Maker 2003 games.Because of this, a few things were not able to be added to the game (or look/act different): Carter joins with Jordan, but the two are driven off by Barkley and his party.Easily the biggest change between the prototype and the final game is that the prototype runs on the RPG Maker 2003 engine, instead of the Game Maker engine that the final uses. He was killed along with many other basketball stars, but was rebuilt by the terrorist organization BLOODMOSES to kill Hoopz. Cyberdwarf, looking at Hoopz, comments that Hoopz may be “The One” this comment restores Carter's memory. In the church, Jordan is holding Hoopz hostage. Upon finding Cyberdwarf, the four of them rush to a nearby church, where Barkley's son Hoopz is hiding. While searching for the Cyberdwarf, they are joined by a cybernetic Vince Carter, who has lost his memory. The ghost of James tells the two to seek the Cyberdwarf, who is hidden in New York's sewers. Hellbane leads Barkley to the tomb of LeBron James, revealing that Hellbane's real name is Balthios, the great grandson of James. Barkley is rescued by another outlaw referred to as the Ultimate Hellbane.
Barkley is blamed for the Chaos Dunk and is hunted by the B-Ball Removal Department, led by Micheal Jordan. In 2053, another Chaos Dunk is performed in Manhattan, killing millions. As a result, basketball was outlawed and many basketball players were hunted down and killed. Twelve years prior, Charles Barkley performed a powerful dunk called a Chaos Dunk at a basketball game, inadvertently killing most of the people in attendance. The game takes place in 2053, in "post-cyberpocalyptic Neo New York City.
It features traditional JRPG-styled battles and dungeons.
